If you feel ready to drop a couple hundred on logic or ableton, go for it, but it can be intimidating initially. Its all about finding whatever you can use with the resources you have in my opinion.
#ROBOTIZE GARAGEBAND INSTALL#
Not to mention the numerous free plugins that you can install on your device that can give you a bunch of new instruments to work with, or effects to put on those instruments. A popular artist named Joji primarily uses it for his music, and while many of the options for the program are limited, its a great teaching tool for more complicated programs. That being said, you can still do a lot with garageband. If I remember correctly, garageband doesnt come with a fully fleshed out sampler, so custom drums or playing different melodic samples is very difficult just as an example.

While the stock sound library for garageband is limited, and not the fanciest vst's you will find, I think the real disadvantage that comes with using garageband is its lack of features. Ive used both garageband and Logic for a little while now. I use that second track in a portfolio so I’d hate to have been sending film people a dud file this whole time.Įdit 2: If the file in the second link isn’t playing for you, try this one: I’m trying to fix that for them, but if it’s happening to anyone else please let me know, so I can deduce if it’s a file issue or a user-specific issue. I’ve never taken the time to look into it though, so that might just be industry lore.Įdit: Second track wasn’t playing for a homie. There’s a difference there, and it isn’t because anything really innate had changed with the program.Īlso, Grimes purportedly used GarageBand exclusively for debut album. I don’t know if this is in good form here, so anyone please tell me if not and I’ll remove them, but take a listen to this GarageBand song I made around 2008 and compare it to this one I made in 2011 (skip to ~01:40).

But, honestly once I really mastered its features and functions, the stuff I made in GarageBand wasn’t too bad sounding. I used GarageBand exclusively in high school and college (2006-2012) and upgraded to Logic in 2012.
